Values

Joy & Celebrating Ourselves

Joy and celebration are acts of resistance. In honor of the struggles of our elders and with permission to ourselves, we take up space, free ourselves from stereotypes, and take pride in existing with joy and happiness.

Belonging

We decenter whiteness and redefine what we call home and community. We create brave spaces where people can show up as their authentic, unapologetic, entire selves without having to prove their worth because we believe that existence is enough.

Honoring Complexity

Our people make up two of the largest world populations and have ancient and influential histories that have been shared throughout countless cultures and languages. We honor the individual and unique identities we hold that vary widely in culture, religion, politics, ability, and physical appearance. We are intergenerational, intersectional, multiracial, adoptees, and have come to Spokane at various times and for various reasons. Our community represents a rich tapestry where each thread/fiber is beautifully distinct and interwoven to create a strong and harmonious whole.

Accountability

We recognize the relationship of the Asian diaspora to the land as settlers and that the path to Collective Liberation won’t be perfect. As we endeavor to reject the tools of oppression while we build a new world, we will move forward with intentionality, vulnerability, transparency, and accountability. When mistakes are made, we will seek repair through restorative justice and trauma informed healing practices. We commit to learning with humility and growing responsibly as we work in solidarity with marginalized groups and allies to build a just, healthy, and thriving community for all.

Approach

We build a world of intersectional justice through community organizing, political and educational campaigns, legislative advocacy, and lobbying.
